I am a teacher by day. When students are busily working away, I will often reward them for their hard work with a fast sketch of some kind. Oddly enough, they actually think that's a reward! So, a lot of stuff I continue to work on later starts off as a simple doodle for my class. Much like Toast, which I posted last time. He was a sketch I did last year and the students loved it. I also create signs for my classroom. Here is a painted sign that hangs outside my door to this day...

Yes, I am a fan of Warcraft. Before this WoW inspired piece, I had this gem hanging outside my door...

I always get tons of questions from this. Personally I think it's fairly obvious...no snowmobiles in my class. It's fun to watch the faces people make when they truly don't understand what the heck you're talking about. I also get those looks when I discuss Dr. Who in the teachers' lounge. Here's the true history of that sign.
A bunch of years ago I visited my old stomping ground in Wisconsin. They have these signs all over the place, like in public parks and parking lots. I guess they don't want snowmobiles in those areas any more then I want them in my classroom. I thought, "That is NOT something people will see or understand down south", so I painted it and used it as a door sign. Just for fun. I still get people scratching their heads when they see it. Nowadays, it hangs in my class for my students to see and question each year.
So there you have it! A little more insight into my madness.
Thanks for reading!
